Partnerships

ABF, the Artists’ Benevolent Fund, welcomes the opportunity to partner with brands to promote the discovery and support of emerging artists.

ABF partnered with Bombay Sapphire as part of their Ripe for Discovery Artist Series Bottles (2020). As part of this promotion, ABF were enormously grateful to receive a £10,000 donation from Bombay Sapphire, along with 6% of the RRP on the first 3,000 bottles sold.

ABF trustee, Matthew Collins, commented: “our aim is to enable emerging artists, a mission that we have in common with Bombay Sapphire and their Stir Creativity platform. The generous donation from the brand will support our Step Change Programme, working with partners across the country to deliver financial support, access to resources and mentoring.”

Natasha Curtin, Bombay Sapphire Global VP commented: “we are delighted to continue to showcase brilliant, emerging artists as well as give back financially to the Artists’ Benevolent Fund. We hope that our gin-lovers are as excited as we are to get their hands on a beautiful, personalised piece of art as well as the delicious new Bombay Bramble gin.”

ABF was delighted to be selected as the recipient of proceeds from an exhibition of work by Allan Laycock, generously facilitated by Chorley’s auctioneers (June 2022).

Allan Laycock R.W.A. (1928-2020) studied at Keighley College of Art and Sheffield College of Art, before beginning his career as a Designer & Visualiser with advertising agencies and design groups in Norwich, Wellington, New Zealand and London. In 1974 he was appointed Lecturer in Graphic Design in the Faculty of Vocational Studies at Gloucester College of Art and Design.

Allan was primarily a landscape artist, and painted all landscapes in situ, at one sitting – rarely in a studio – using acrylics as a watercolour medium. During his long life, he exhibited all over the West Country. Much of his work features the Cotswolds, although excursions as far afield as New Zealand, Portugal and Croatia produced some exciting views. Allan was a member of several art societies and his work is to be found in worldwide private and public collections.

Allan’s work has appeared on TV, and he was the Commentator on the BBC production of “Art in Agriculture”. His subject matter is usually a rural scene, but from the less familiar viewpoint, painted ‘on the day, as it is’ with delightful spontaneity and authenticity.
